Mit der Investition in Malta Air will die irische Billigfluggesellschaft Ryanair nach eigenen Aussagen ihre Präsenz in Malta weiter ausbauen und von dort aus Zugang zu Märkten in Nordafrika erhalten. Die endgültige Umsetzung sei für Ende Juni geplant, heißt es in einer Pressemitteilung der Ryanair Holdings. Die Airline übernehme dann sechs in Malta stationierte Flugzeuge (Wert rund 600 Millionen Dollar) sowie 200 Besatzungsmitglieder. Die auf Malta stationierten Flugzeuge sollen im Sommer 2020 ein neues Branding erhalten. Die weißlackierte Oberseite des Rumpfs soll in Rot die Aufschrift „Malta Air“ tragen. Rot soll auch das Malteserkreuz am Heck sein.

With the investment in Malta Air, the Irish low-cost airline Ryanair says it intends to further expand its presence in Malta and gain access to markets in North Africa from there. The final implementation is planned for the end of June, according to a press release from Ryanair Holdings. The airline will then take over six aircraft based in Malta (worth around 600 million dollars) and 200 crew members. The aircraft stationed in Malta are to be branded in the summer of 2020. The white-painted top of the fuselage is said to bear the inscription "Malta Air" in red. Red should also be the Maltese Cross at the rear.
